Staying Hydrated….

At Penna we understand how really important it is in hot weather to stay well hydrated. Dehydration can lead to a number of medical complications particularly the older you are.



The key message is to keep drinking, but not all beverages will help with your hydration. Water is by far the best fluid to ensure your body fluids stay properly regulated, and it helps keep the body cool. Alcohol and caffeinated beverages such as coffee and tea can add to dehydration because they pull fluids from your body.



Certain foods are great for helping with hydration because they contain high amounts of water. These include cucumber, tomatoes, green peppers, cauliflower, iceberg lettuce, watermelon, strawberries, and melon.



We hope you are able to stay hydrated during the current heatwave, and even if you don’t feel thirsty keep sipping water throughout the day.
